2018 in review and 2019 in the view
I'm late. I know, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. It's already the middle of February and I haven't done my usual yearly keyboard bashing session where I smash out a semi-coherent review of the previous year and talk about what we hope to get done in this year. Truth be told, I wasn't sure if anyone really wanted to read through my banal twitterings or not and whether I would do this, so let me know at the end if my time (and yours) was worth it.

More games in Donation Points store and minor changes
Since launching our Donation Points system last year we've given away over $81,000 worth of Donation Points (DP) to mod authors. Thankfully, the reaction to this system has been overwhelmingly positive and we're extremely happy with how it has turned out.
While mod authors can exchange their DP for straight up Pay Pal donations, we've also been very happy with how many mod authors have been exchanging their DP for video game keys that we've been providing in the DP store. It's great .. -

Operation Flashpoint (also Arma: Cold War Assault) is a series of military simulation games. The first game, Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis, was developed by Bohemia Interactive Studio. The second games, comprising Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising and Operation Flashpoint: Red River, were developed by Codemasters. There are also three spiritual sequels to the original game made by Bohemia Interactive Studio; ArmA: Armed Assault, ARMA 2 and ARMA 3.

Bohemia Interactive series[edit]
Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis (2001)[edit]
Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis's gameplay varies significantly depending on the player's role, but the game is best described as a tactical shooter with significant vehicle elements and minor real-time tactics elements. Set in 1985, the game takes place on two fictional and one real-life islands: the island-states of Everon and Malden, and later in the game, on the barren Russian island of Kolgujev which is the staging point for the renegade Russian forces invading Everon and Malden. It has been re-released as ArmA: Cold War Assault in 2011.
Operation Flashpoint: Resistance (2002)[edit]
Resistance, an expansion, featured updated graphics, sounds, and multiplayer mechanics. The storyline takes place three years before the events of the original game storyline. The player takes on the role of an ex-Special Operations soldier, Victor Troska, who has returned to his homeland of Nogova after years in exile serving with British Special Forces. During the first introductory mission to the campaign, the island is invaded by the Soviet Union after some members of the socialist party betray the country and invite Soviet forces to overthrow the government. Troska becomes the leader of a resistance movement against the Soviet Army.
Codemasters series[edit]
Operation Flashpoint: Red Hammer (2002)[edit]
An expansion, Red Hammer, which was developed by Codemasters, depicts the same conflict as Cold War Crisis, but places the player in the role of a Russian soldier, Dmitriy Lukin, rather than an American soldier.
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising (2009)[edit]
Dragon Rising takes place on a fictional island named Skira, in May 2011. After the global economic crisis causes mass unemployment and political destabilization in China, the PLA seize control of Skira and the vast, newly discovered reservoir of oil there, from the Russian Federation. Peace talks prove useless as both combatants lay claim to Skira due to previous ownership of it. The situation deteriorates quickly and China begins to fortify its northern provinces in anticipation of armed conflict with Russia. Russia, already countering the PLA on the Chinese mainland, calls to the United States of America to retake Skira from the Chinese. Bound by treaty arrangements made after the end of the Cold War, America agrees and the two biggest armies in the world begin to clash on the island. Dragon Rising was released for both PC and consoles, with the PC version including map editors and larger multiplayer games.
Operation Flashpoint: Red River (2011)[edit]
Operation Flashpoint: Red River was released in 2011 as a sequel to 2009's Dragon Rising. The game's plot concerns a fictional conflict in Tajikistan. The game follows a platoon of Marines, with the player controlling Kirby, Bravo team fireteam leader.

The Auto-Gunner (Support Gunner) is the portable machinegunner from World War 1. He moves to different spots on the front and provides suppressive fire to hinder or neutralize enemy advances. Enemies who continue to advance run the risk of being slain by an errant bullet. Those enemies pinned can then be flanked by other soldiers and neutralized.
Weapons[edit]
Computer-controlled bots freely switch between the two weapons assigned to them depending on the order. For close combat (e.g., Secure Building) they will use short range weapons. The best weapons are the high damage weapons, since bots do not have ammunition limits.
M249 SAW[edit]
The 5.56 NATO support weapon first made famous in Half-Life Opposing Forces and the original Counterstrike. A massive 200 round belt allows the gunner to hose down a spot to blunt an enemy's advance. This weapon is mutually exclusive to the Mk.48 MOD 0.
Mk.48 MOD 0[edit]
British 7.62 NATO support weapon that was the equivalent to the M-60. While it uses a 100 round belt, the weapon is more accurate and powerful than the M249. This weapon is mutually exclusive to the M249 SAW.
M4A1[edit]
The carbine version of the M16 has slightly less accuracy and effective range, but still fires up (and out) to 500 game-meters. Handy weapon for CQB and building entry if you are using the Marksman Sight for the LMG.
M16A4[edit]
This is the rifle which fires semiautomatically or in 3-round burst. It has decent accuracy, and if you spam single shots in quick rapidity, you can turn it into a medium ranged marksman rifle. A handy choice for the Auto-Gunner, unless you use the Marksman Sight on the LMG. In that case, use an M4A1 with a Reflex Sight for CQB.
MEU (SOC)[edit]
The default handgun for the marine. Unless you want to rack up handgun kills, you may want to leave this weapon behind once you unlock the M4A1.
Attachments[edit]
Computer-controlled bots use the attachments of weapons (like the grenade launcher and suppressor) when given the chance. Put on any sight which increases the accuracy of the weapon. Bots only feed off the stat/meters of a weapon, not how something actually appears.
Red Dot Sight (RDS)[edit]
A device designed for short and medium (150 to 250 meters) engagements.
Reflex Sight (CQB)[edit]
A device designed for short engagements.
Marksman Sight (M)[edit]
A device designed for long distance engagements (400 to 500 meters), usable only on the LMGs for the Auto-Gunner.
Suppressor (SUP)[edit]
A noise dampener that reduces muzzle velocity and flash. Used for covert operations.
Gadgets[edit]
Computer-controlled bots do not use gadgets, so you may leave their inventory as you see it.
IR Strobe[edit]
A marker that is noticable at night with NVG active. Used to coordinate extraction. When dropped in FTEs (except CSAR and Rolling Thunder), the extraction chopper will land nearby and pick you up.
M67 Frag[edit]
Hand thrown fragmentary device. Designed to kill or injure infantry at medium and close range.
M18 Claymore[edit]
Vectored anti-personnel device; personnel in the area of effect are killed or injured. Those who are not are comparatively safe.
M18 SMoke[edit]
Smoke grenade which breaks line of sight. Units in smoke are treated as 'threat clouds' and can only be suppressed, not engaged.
B-MOD[edit]
MODS and perks will affect a bot's precision and aiming with its weapons. Increase the accuracy of their weapons when possible so you get an efficient kill team. Bots do not earn experience towards leveling a soldier class.

This skill increases the XP earned by 10%.
